The Best Free Homeschool Curriculum and Resources for 2024

Sharing is caring!

I have culminated the best, free homeschool curriculum and resources for 2024 and I am so excited to share them with you!

free homeschool curriculum

In our first few years of homeschooling, I was on a very tight budget. I worked part time, on my husband’s days off. We would use our tax check to buy the curricula and then, when we were finished, would sell what we were done with to purchase the next years. I also utilized several of these resources for supplementation.

I don’t know where you’re at right now, but I want you to know, you’re not alone. Even though we are better off financially and I am home full time, we still have to be very diligent with our spending and keep a close eye on our budget. I pray these resources will be a blessing to you and your family.

I am not affiliated or sponsored with any of these companies. I am just want to share these with others who may need help finding free homeschooling resources.

Free Homeschool Curriculum:

Easy Peasy All in One:

I can’t make a free homeschool curriculum post without mentioning Easy Peasy. It truly is a full curriculum and totally free. They offer preschool up to high school. If you prefer printed materials, they sell those on Amazon for a good price as well.

The Good and the Beautiful

The Good and the Beautiful tends to be controversial in most homeschool circles. I’m not going to get into that. I have personally used TGTB and while their materials are beautiful and affordable, they just didn’t meet our needs. However; they offer full curricula in subjects like math, language arts, and marine biology.

Miniature Masterminds

When I first discussed Miniature Masterminds on my youtube channel, they only had 1st and 2nd grade curricula for free. Now they have all the way up to 6th grade. It really is quite amazing what they offer, absolutely free. It’s worksheet centered, but if you’re okay with that or plan to use it to supplement, it’s a wonderful resource.

Typing.Com

Another wonderful free resource we have personally used, typing.com is fun and works at the students pace. My children enjoy getting different certificates for each section they complete.

Khan Academy

This is another favorite for people, but I have not used it. It got a lot of recognition during covid when people needed extra help. I think this is wonderful resource if there is a certain subject or concept your child is struggling with. They have all grades and all subjects.

Under the Home

This one is for K-5 with a Charlotte Mason flair. It’s easy for the child to navigate and ad-free, unlike some of the other options on this list.

Ambleside Online

I have personally used some of what AO has to offer. We absolutely love their book lists and their private facebook group is a wealth of knowledge. The curriculum itself is free and is very close to the Charlotte Mason philosophy. You would need to purchase the books to go along with it and a math curriculum. They also give recommendations for language arts. However; most books used can be found for free online in the public domain or at the library.

Plain & Not So Plain

I had watched Amy Maryon on youtube several years ago and still get her videos recommended frequently. So one day, I came across her completely free homeschool curriculum. It’s for first grade all the way to ninth grade and has some Bible resources as well. It’s not my cup of tea, but worth mentioning!

ABC Jesus Loves Me

I actually used this when my son was a toddler. It offers a full, free Biblical preschool program for 1-year-olds all the way up to kindergarten.

An Old Fashioned Education

A Christian homeschool education, it offers a Charlotte Mason style in that it uses living books and lots of free books on the public domain. You can find grades K-12.

Gentle & Classical

Erin is one of the sweetest curriculum owners out there. She also offers so many teacher’s guides absolutely free, as well as other resources. I love her approach to homeschooling. While I no longer use her curricula, I did enjoy her preschool program and still enjoy browsing her materials.

Core Knowledge

Another completely free curricula, they seem to be geared more towards traditional and secular learning. I know some people enjoy them for their science or history subjects for that very reason. If that is what you need, I’d definitely look into them.

The Gentle Learning Company

This is a totally flexible, whole-family Charlotte Mason-style curriculum. They are a newer curriculum, but offer free reading plans. I actually downloaded their cycle 3 recently and am excited to use some of the resources.

We are considering using Elemental Science for 7th grade next year. I was snooping around their website and was surprised to find free high school science courses, including the textbook!

Lamp and Light Living is a completely free Christian homeschool curriculum. They have free preschool, as well as two cycles for grades K-5. They also feature free Bible studies on their website for Mamas.

The Homeschool Compass

So many lovely free printables, from nature walks to state studies.

Stephanie Hathaway

I adore her artistic style. Her free resources continue to grow, inspired by nature and science.

Bedtime Math

If you have never heard of Bedtime Math, it’s essentially bed time stories that have you thinking mathematically. There are different levels, from the oldest to the youngest. If you sign up for their email, you can get some sent to your inbox. I also found the books at my local library.

The Waldock Way

If you have never heard of Jessica, you are missing out! She is a bit like the unit study queen. Her blog has several free resources and she actually emails freebies out every month. She also has several affordable unit studies, if you have the means.

Rabbit Trails Homeschool

We are about to start up Rabbit Trails Homeschool‘s Paleontology study when we start school back up. However; they have several free resources and book studies.

  1. This is a great list, Kelsey! Thank you so much for compiling. Have you ever checked out Gather Round? We have enjoyed their curriculum during our first homeschooling year after we found Gentle+Classical didn’t meet all of our personal needs. I’ve never looked to see if GR offers anything for free though.

    1. Paige, I have definitely looked into them! We recently have discovered and loved Rabbit Trails Homeschool. They offer unit studies for each individual subject, which is what I actually prefer. I am glad you have found something you enjoy and works for your family!
