How to Make Homemade Orange Cleaner
Learn to create a powerful homemade orange cleaner using natural, inexpensive ingredients. Safe for your family and the environment, it leaves your home sparkling clean.
Why Use Vinegar and Orange Peels?
Vinegar is strong enough to dissolve dirt, grease, and minerals, making it an effective cleaner. The orange works as a means to dissolve fat, cut through grease, and is a natural antimicrobial. Plus, it smells DEVINE!
Gathering Your Supplies
- White Distilled Vinegar
- Orange peels/slices
- Glass jar with lid
- Spray bottle
- Water (filtered if possible)
Combining Ingredients
Once you have all your ingredients, you simply want to put your orange slices or peels into your glass jar. You’re going to fill half the jar with the vinegar and the other half with filtered or distilled water. If your orange peels/slices float, you can add another, small lid or cap to keep them in the water/vinegar mixture.
Letting the Mixture Steep
You want to let the orange peels/slices steep in the mixture for awhile. How long you allow it to steep is up to you. Some suggest a few days and others a few weeks. I usually allow them to steep for about 5-7 days, when the colors turns a nice, dark orange color.
Straining the Cleaner
Once your homemade orange cleaner is ready, you’re going to strain the mixture.
Bottling Your Cleaner
Now, it’s time to bottle your homemade orange cleaner. I love these glass bottles from Amazon. They are a bit pricey, but I have had them for years. They spray really nicely. Be sure to label your bottle to avoid confusion.
Using Your Orange Cleaner
I love using my homemade orange cleaner in the kitchen and bathroom. It really cuts down on the grease and grime, especially on the stove top and build up around the sinks.
